The Ashes Betting Preview

Battle recommences this summer for one of sport’s biggest rivalries with England 9/4 outsiders to wrestle back the urn from 8/13 favourites Australia in what looks set to be the biggest cricket series ever for betting.

England are 9/1 for a repeat of their famous 2-1 victory in 2005 but, as the Aussies are quick to remind everyone, there’s been another series since then and Ricky Ponting’s team are 16/1 to repeat their 5-0 whitewash in the 2006/07 series.

Speaking of the Australian skipper, Paddy Power are betting on which England’s bowler will concede Ponting’s 11,175 Test run. The landmark figure, sure to come during the series, would make Ponting Australia’s all-time leading runscorer, putting him third on the list behind only Tendulkar and Lara.

On the Australian theme, Paddy Power’s specials include betting on Warnie’s Words. The spin legend and true blue Aussie will be sure to ruffle some feathers when he joins the Sky commentary team for the summer and the bookie is betting on which phrase Warnie uses first. Phrases include “G’day mate” at 6/1, “strewth” at 12/1 and “Advanced Hair Studios” at 66/1. “C’mon England” is an unlikely 25/1.

On England’s side there is betting on the number of Tests Freddie Flintoff plays in, how many tons KP scores and how many times Aussie spinner Michael Clarke takes KP’s prized wicket with “left arm filth”

As well as the regular correct score and top runscorer/wicket taker betting Paddy Power’s Money-Back Special on the Ashes will refund all losing outright bets on the Series if there are no drawn matches.

Wimbledon 2009

Wimbledon 2009 - Betting Preview

Last year we were spoiled with the greatest final of all time on Centre Court as two of the games greatest names in the sport played out a thriller! Nadal eventually got the better of Federer on that day, but whose name is on the trophy this year?

Can Roger maintain his terrific current form and regain the crown? Is Rafa's knee able to hold up and allow him to defend his title successfully or will Andy Murray end Britains 73 year wait and walk away as the Wimbledon 2009 Men's Champion?

In terms of the Ladies competition, will it be the Williams sisters leading the way again? Can Dinara Safina recover from a disastrous French Open Final and reign supreme? Will Maria Sharapova be wearing her pink undies?

These are important questions that will be answered over the next Month, however the only thing that can be definitively confirmed at this stage is:

Paddy Power have EVERYTHING covered for Wimbledon 2009

ALL the Action from the Six Show Courts will be streamed live onsite so UK & Irish customers can keep up to speed with everything!

Daily Articles & Videos posted on their Blog for the duration of the Tournament.

BOOKIE ON THE BUTTON IN WAVING F1 CHEQUERED FLAG

- Paddy Power Pays Out On Jenson Button -

Bookie Paddy Power has waved the chequered flag on this season’s Formula One race and is paying out on Jenson Button as the winner of the driver’s title.

As the driver’s prepare for this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone the bookie believes Button has driven so far into the sunset that the race to be champion is already over.

With Paddy Power also paying out on Brawn GP as winners of this season’s Constructors championship, the payout looks set to land punters more than £200,000 on Button and his team Brawn GP.

Button was at the back of the betting grid for much of the winter break and, with future of the Oxfordshire outfit looking doubtful, was an 80/1 also-ran in the betting. But as pre-season testing got underway it soon became clear that Ross Brawn had put together another cracking racing car and by the start of the season Button had been backed into 4/1 favourite. Six wins our of seven later and Button is now an almost uncatchable 1/12 for the Drivers Title.

And one customer will be having a particularly splendid Silverstone after backing Button with a £100 bet at 80/1.

Paddy Power said: “Congratulations to punters who got it bang on the Button. It certainly seems some shrewdies knew Brawn had a monster of a car in the garage and got on whilst the rest of us were still sitting in the pits.

“Ross Brawn has yet again left the rest of the F1 world on their backsides so why wait another five months to collect your bet when it’s obvious the chequered flag has already been waved for this season.”

For the last ever Silverstone Grand Prix this weekend Jenson Button is odds on at 3-4 to win his home race whilst Paddy Power is also offering 33/1 that the race returns to the circuit in 2010.
